When in Israel, go Sand Boarding!

Israel is a destination that fits many traveller’s desires whether it’s for a Culinary Excursion, a Historical Exploration, a Cultural Immersion, a Spiritual Quest or for Adventure Seekers. Along the coast are miles of beautiful beaches for surfers and lovers to bathe in the sun. Inland lies the Negev Desert that spans across 4700 square miles – 55% of the country’s land. There you can do everything from camping with the Bedouins, ride camels, repelling, biking, rock climbing, star gazing, spot wildlife, hiking, ATV’ing, and SAND BOARDING in the dunes!

Weeee!!!

I have always preferred the sun over the snow, so naturally, Israel has always been one of favorites. When the opportunity presented to Sand Board while we were in the desert, I was all in! Think of snowboarding on sand but in a bikini or tank top and without all the heavy equipment. It doesn’t take much training and all ages from 2-100 can enjoy sliding down the Sand Dunes in various ways – on your back, on your butt, upside down, standing, face forward, any way you desire really. Just try not to swallow too much sand as you’re laughing all the way down!

Dror Bamidbar, friendly owner. Facebook.com/drorbamidbar http://www.drorbamidbar.co.il/english/sandboarding

To arrange a trip, call or email my new friend Dror Bamidbar, owner of a small Sand Boarding business in Ramat Hanegev that rents sand boards, atv’s, jeeprides, camping and all the fun desert activities you can think of.

Dror moved his family to the desert many years ago for a simpler life and has not looked back. Upon arrival, he offers tea/refreshments, and so stereotypically, a good attitude and wit as all Israeli hosts have in common.

After Sand Boarding, stick around and watch the sunset, it’s quite a relaxing spot to be in the world.
