Half the Sky Documentary Aires Monday, October 1 & 2, 9 pm!! Many of you have read this tragic, yet inspirational book on turning Oppression into Opportunities for Women around the world. Nicholas Kristof, NY Times writer and his wife Sherry WuDunn have made this Documentary that many of us have been eagerly anticipating. The first episode will also include Room to Read, the charity I’ve actively been involved with, among over 30 other charities.As a woman in America, think of all the rights and choices we have. It’s so easy to take for granted. Think about the country in which your parents and grandparents have come from, is it the same? Imagine being vulnerable to violence simply because of your gender. Or domestic violence/sexual abuse that is not reported because the victim ends up being the blame. And is even imprisoned or killed for it. Worst of all, imagine being sold into prostitution at the age of 8. These are real-life stories of women, happening Today, this very moment in the World. And many of them have turned their lives around and are now dedicating their lives to saving others. Educate yourself, become aware and see what you can do to help!
