August Jetsetting to Honduras & Spain

It’s that time of year, my travel bug has activated beyond control in which no bug spray can diminish. And so therefore, I must not fight against the wind and go with my heart, pack my rucksack and jet set. Or my preferable term, Gyp-set! I’ve gone on various domestic trips this year including Vegas, Santa Barbara, San Jose and San Diego. But it doesn’t quite satisfy my fix as going international to a new place I’ve never been. After a successful half of year, having checked off my New Years resolution list and have confidently reached most my goals (with the exception of more cardio, but who ever actually reaches that one!?), I am rewarding myself with my annual trip(s). I have reached my professional work goals, ranking as #2 out of 25 sales reps, getting promoted from AVP to VP within a year. I have also had 3 articles published in magazines featuring honorable Charities. Thank you thank you.

Tonight, I will be flying TACA air to Roatan, Honduras for a 4 day white-sand beach vacation with my bf. Why Honduras you ask? Well for the same reason we went to Belize last year! We were looking for a short beach vacation which we started our kayak.com search on Cancun & Cabo. And as usual, we started trotting south to Central America, as the flights were comparable in price and is less commercialized. We find a lot of these destinations a lot more unique than the franchised hotels. Plus, Sri had ran across a gorgeous photo and article on how Roatan is ranked among one of the most beautiful beaches in the World. Just crossing our fingers that the cruise-ships won’t be stopping by over the weekend!

I’ve packed my bikinis, under-water camera and travel journal, while Sri has enough Linen to last a year. HWG! (Here we go!) I look forward to lying on the beach with no worries in the world (at least I’ll try), with no blackberry, no emails, no phone calls. Just a few books to relax to while sipping coconut water, or more realistically, a Martini. Perhaps towards late afternoon, I’ll hop in a kayak and row away towards sunset. I look forward to the seafood on the beach restaurants, meeting the locals and visiting bar huts. We went windsurfing last year in Belize and I’d love to go again, maybe some horseback riding? Who knows what will happen, travel is filled with surprises especially when you go with no fixed agendas.

“Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things – air, sleep, dreams, the sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.” – Cesare Pavese

One week from now, I will be off to a 12 day backpacking trip to Barcelona, Spain, the surrounding areas, and end our last 4 days in Sicily, Italy. I will be going with my little sister Jocelyn, who has been fortunate enough to have started her travels at an earlier age than me. And I wish to continually help expand her imagination. Show her how beautiful this world is and how much good we can learn from other cultures. That American schooling may not teach. A special guest appearance in Europe will be my dear friend Frank who I fatefully met at the audition of the Taiwan Travel Show “Fun Taiwan” 3 years ago, who will meet us.

I hope my travels inspire YOU to travel. Have you considered where you want to go next? Pick that spot, mark your calendar, and just go! The biggest excuse I hear is “I’m too busy at work“. Bo-ring! I guarantee that if you took more time off, your work performance would sky-rocket. Don’t believe me? Just try it. I mean.. what do you have to lose? Cheerios!
