In January 2017, I spent 2 weeks learning about the non-profit work by Manav Sadhna in Ahmedabad, Gujarat State of India. The NGO, with it’s base out of Gandhi’s Ashram, is a support base for the underprivileged population in Ahmedabad. There is a large presence of their Seva (selfless work) in the 6+ slum neighborhoods throughout the region with schools, health clinics and women/elder support groups. As well as for those unfortunately outcasted due to leprosy and caste. One of the initiatives I fell madly in love with was the “Empty Hands Music” initiative, an after school program which teaches dance and music to children. Through an organized effort, the “Jai Jagat” show was re-born as a replica of a previous performance show called EKTA.
Dozens of children have auditioned for a role in the Jai Jagat Show and 15 talented, hard-working children and teens were selected. This group will be traveling to the US in May to remind us how our planet can rediscover love. This will be the children’s first time in the US. And for most, even traveling out of their city. I am here to share more about the Jai Jagat Tour 2019 and invite you all to attend!
Jai Jagat Show is an urgent story for our time, a once-in-a-lifetime dance drama created by the kids of Ahmedabad. This is a story of how we can overcome the conflicts in our world when we allow the children to take the lead. The Jai Jagat Group will perform in 6 cities throughout the US in May. And a show in London in June on their way back to India. A beautiful dance and drama musical with a powerful message relevant to our times. Please spread the word, get your tickets and join us on this rare occasion!

About the Organizer, the Inspiration: Nimo Patel
In 2002, Nimo’s true calling revealed itself fatefully during a visit to the EKTA Show in Manhattan where 14 children from the slum areas outside of Gandhi’s Ashram performed.
From an Ivy League education, life in the corporate world on Wall Street to fame and fortune as a MTV Rap star, he realized that he was walking a path of suffering. Nimo realized that the only path to light was through selfless service to others and his own internal purification. For the past 15 years, Nimo has been serving and working with the underprivileged communities in the Gandhi Ashram in India.
Nimo reconnected to his roots of music and is offering this gift of love, peace and oneness through his songs: an offering he calls “Empty Hands Music”. Nimo chose the title ‘Empty Hands’, because of the profound wisdom we all can gain when we understand this deeper truth: that we arrive on this planet empty handed and we will all soon leave empty handed. So then, how and in what spirit do we want to spend the time in between?
