Hotel Riu Palace is a posh, luxury resort located just 2 miles from Playa del Carmen in Cancun, Mexico. This all-inclusive hotel is the ideal place to stay for a few days of pure relaxation in the safely protected and lively Playacar Community. The hotel has it’s own private white sand beach with full service (24/7) serving you from the moment you enter the lobby, room service all the way to the beach for endless food and drinks.
The weather in Cancun is warm all year long so anytime is a good time to visit!
The resort is designed in a contemporary and hip fashion
with crisp white base paint and accents of magenta & purple.
Beautifully manicured Palm Trees frame the pools while swaying with the wind.
Modern art are displayed in rooms and throughout the property.
2 Large Freshwater Pools to Swim and Dip in
The resort is small enough to get around by foot yet large enough to still find your own corner when you need alone time. Relax at one of the 2 freshwater swimming pools and jacuzzis. Light music plays throughout the day by the pool.
No Need to Leave the Resort when You Have a Private White Sand Beach!
Grab a lounge chair and relax on the white sand beach of Playa del Carmen. Catch up on some readings you’ve been putting off. Take a long, relaxing swim in the pristine, warm, turquoise Caribbean Sea. Don’t worry, your belongings are safe as it’s a private beach with wait staff and security around!
Feel like having an adventure filled holiday? There are plenty of activities to do just from the beach:
- Paddle boarding
All equipments can be rented right on the beach. Gym and a Wellness Center is also available on property.
6 Different Restaurants to Meet All Your Cravings
I am often weary of staying at all-inclusive resorts for a few reasons. The main being that I’m scared of mediocre to plain bad food and the lack of quality ingredients often offered. I was delightfully surprised that all the meals I had at Hotel Riu Palace was fresh and delicious. Especially my first meal at their fancier steakhouse where I had a fresh Ceviche Trio and juicy Steak! There are 6 Restaurants to choose from:
- Don Julian Restaurant (Buffet)
- As with any resort, there is a large selection of food to choose from the Buffet which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner
- “Krystal” Fusion restaurant
- “Miyagi” Japanese restaurant (open after 5pm)
- Italian restaurant
- “La Bodega” Mexican restaurant (buffet starters and dessert)
- Fancy Open-Air Steakhouse located by the pool overlooking the Sea
Dancing & Festivities in Playacar & Playa del Carmen
Once your party mood gets started, there’s no shortage of activities and shows on the Hotel Riu Palace Entertainment Calendar. Throughout the day and especially in the evenings are live musical performances with both indoor and outdoor seating. Feel like dancing but don’t want to go all the way to downtown, Playa del Carmen? Head over to Pacha Discotheque at Riu Tequila (within walking distance in the same community). As a Riu Hotel guest, you get free entry with your wristband. This is the spot for late night dancing to the hottest hits!
I visited during the Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) Holiday in late October/early November so the hotel was especially festive!
